What do these three websites have in common?
- Pink Moods
- She Is Fierce
Well, they’re some of a new generation of places for women that are flourishing at the moment – run by women, written by women – which offer us a rich mix of news, articles and guides for personal development. For me one of the most important things about them is that they’re not dominated by fashion and dating like so many media vehicles aimed at women, and several of them have a feminist slant. There’s a community here too – a place for women to share their stories, ask questions, find empowering ideas and get practical help and advice. They’re like a SO much better version of the magazines marketed to us – and which I gave up reading because I just couldn’t relate to most of the content!
And that’s why I really wanted to get involved with them.
Yes, dear reader, I write for them
Pink Moods is a new website for women, launched in Spring 2015, with a mission to “inspire breakthroughs in confidence and self-belief through a network that provides expert advice, organisational tools and resources to empower.” When they approached me about writing for them I was thrilled to become an expert contributor and author.
She Is Fierce was also launched in 2015; the brainchild of Kelly Young who, with 2 young children at home, was determined to launch a brand for women that “focused on the positive and inspirational, but was also very practical.” The site has a membership option but there’s lots of useful “femspiration” (as they call it) and if you’re in the US then you can attend their programme of Fierce Talks – sharing the stories of women from all walks of life. I’m very proud to be a contributor to this site!
And then there’s Henpicked which shares “the wisdom of women” via it’s website, newsletter and discussion forum (plus there’s an online book club that’s well worth joining). I love the warmth and humour you can find here, and their commitment to celebrating what women are all about. If you’re a Twitter user then look out for their #wisewomen hashtag on posts.
So now I’m going to blow my own trumpet
Well, first of all I have to apologise for letting my writing here on the blog take a back seat but I really have been busy sharing my thoughts elsewhere, so I’m going to shamelessly plug some of the articles I’ve written and had published this year – it’s a big ta-dah moment so I hope you’ll forgive me (see, I haven’t just been suffering bloggers block)!
For She Is Fierce I gave some advice based on my work supporting clients who feel they’re trapped in jobs that don’t fulfill them or fit with their dreams: How to Make The Best of a Bad Job offers ways of turning around that negative experience and then using it to build on in the future. Look out for more articles from me next year.
My first piece for Henpicked was really well received and that was particularly rewarding because it was very much the personal story of my experience of moving and living abroad. Since then I’ve become a regular contributor on subjects as diverse as keeping to your resolutions to the power of pets!
Meanwhile, over at Pink Moods you can choose from a couple of related articles that explore our quest for true love (and why we should start with a bit of self-love) and in ‘7 Steps to Being Happier Within Yourself‘ went on to look in more depth at ways to find greater happiness, without needing to look for this from external things (or other people). And if you’ve ever felt that you’re caught between your dreams and ambitions and the reality of daily life then perhaps ‘Stop Living a Double Life – 6 questions that could change everything‘ is for you!
So there you go. If you like any of those please share the love and let people know – you’ll find all the usual social sharing buttons on the web pages – and if you feel like popping back here and telling me too, then even better. It’s so fabulous to get feedback from what I’m writing and putting out there into the big wide world! Oh, and PLEASE let me know if there’s anything you’d like me write about here in the future because I want my Teatime Blog to be useful to YOU.
This is just a my (slightly biased) selection of the oh, so many websites out there of course; you’ll have your own personal favourites and I’d love it if you’d share them in the Comments below!
